Botox …by Harley Aesthetics trained technician

Botox injections are used to ease and smooth out the appearance of lines and wrinkles by relaxing the facial muscles that cause them. The procedure has become very popular amongst women and men who want to look younger or want to delay the signs of ageing.

What happens:

Careful and detailed consultation on the first treatment lasts around 30-45 mins, following treatments then approximately 20-30 min in duration.
The Botox technician then injects a small amount of the Botox into the site to be treated. The Botox works by blocking nerve signals to the muscles under the skin. The muscle therefore relaxes and the skin is smoothed causing facial lines to diminish.

Effects usually last between 3-4 months.

Better results after 2nd and 3rd treatment is common

After the Botox treatment

After Botox treatment there may be some redness in the treated areas, though this is usually very minor. Clients can usually leave the clinic straight away and return to work the same day. Avoid rubbing the area treated with Botox for 2 days. The full effect of the Botox cannot be gauged for the next 14 days. It is then recommended to come in and have a follow up consultation.

Risks and side effects

There are very few serious risks associated with Botox treatment. However, complications can arise including over-treating the area and causing more muscle paralysis than desirable. Other risks include slight bruising at the injection site, or flu-like symptoms. Headaches can occur after treatment simple over the counter analgesics can be taken if needed.
